Pioneering Better Online Driver Education with Innovative Distribution Models.
The National Driver Safety Institute was created to serve a direct need: better online driver education made more easily accessible through innovative distribution models. Incorporated in the State of Georgia as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation the NDSI is rapidly moving forward through partnerships with organizations seeking to improve the safety of client groups by providing online defensive driver and driver improvement courses and specialized content.
After an 18 month pilot program period that involved extensive development and testing of course content materials, online delivery systems and key strategic distribution partnerships, results have far exceeded all expectations. The NDSI is now focused on assisting our partners with ongoing support as they pursue a nationwide expansion effort.
Higher quality online driver improvement education that reaches more drivers can have a truly meaningful impact on public safety!
A Needs Driven Model
The National Driver Safety Institute was founded by a group of insurance professionals, driving instructors and enthusiasts with experience in teaching new approaches to the driving task that involve both an improved mental approach and building better responsive driving skills.
Working in the automobile insurance industry in recent years has driven one fact home in the worst ways: people are wrecking cars more often. For an insurance company, increasing accident rates lead to increased claims losses which in turn lead to increasing insurance premiums. This can drive insurance customer retention lower as consumers jump from company to company in a vain attempt to save money. Insurance agents struggle not only to retain customers as rates increase but also when it comes to providing meaningful assistance relative to the increasing risks.
The founders of the NDSI recognized that these issues could be addressed more effectively. Deep analysis of widely available online defensive driver courses left a great deal to be desired from a content perspective. Costs represented a clear barrier to entry for many individuals. The potential benefits were simply not being realized. This can be done better!

Our Experience
Defensive driver and driver improvement course content that is optimized for online learning and focused toward teaching a better mental approach that leads to learned skills becoming habit can reduce the risk of traffic accidents. However, no benefits can be realized without engagement with the course content and traditional distribution methods present barriers that are difficult to overcome. Removing these barriers to increase access to effective course materials can serve to improve public safety by putting skilled drivers on our roadways. This is the focus of the National Driver Safety Institute!
Risk Awareness
Increasing traffic accidents, injuries and public costs all demonstrate a clear need for broad driver improvement
Price Conscious
The typical per course costs of $19.95 - $39.95 for traditional defensive driver courses represents a significant barrier to entry for many.
